A siphon, typically used ahead of a gauge exposed to steam or hot process media, allows condensate to collect and create a liquid seal that keeps the actual heat and pressure of the process from directly contacting the gauge's internals — extending its working life considerably.
A snubber, meanwhile, is designed to dampen sudden pressure pulsations or spikes before they reach the gauge, protecting the delicate internal mechanism from the kind of repeated shock that leads to premature failure or inaccurate readings. Each of these accessories addresses a specific stress the gauge would otherwise absorb directly — and combining the right ones for your application significantly extends both gauge life and reading reliability.
